أفضل مبنى فى العالم

Burj Al Arab

Welcome to BBC Xtra English.

Anna and Rasha talk about their favourite buildings.

There's a new competition to find the best building in the world.

Organisers of the World Architecture Festival Awards say previously unknown architects will be able to compete with world-class architects.

So buildings like zoos, police stations and bus garages stand as much chance of winning as any cutting-edge designs.

Usually the winners of prestigious architecture awards are decided behind closed doors.

The prize is backed by 26 architectural magazines from five continents and the closing date for entries is June 20th

The competition covers 96 types of buildings which are split into 16 main categories. There are awards for churches, mosques, synagogues, prisons, theme parks, hotels. The list goes on!!

There will be 256 shortlisted projects, and an international panel will chose the winner in Barcelona in October.

We asked some people about their favourite building. One man said the West Ham football club because they're the best team in the world, one woman said the hotel in Dubai which is shaped like a sail. Others liked the Tower of London and the tower in Toronto which is one of the tallest buildings in the world.

Tell us about your favourite building? Where is it? What does it look like?
